Shear Bond Strength and Microleakage of Pit and Fissure Sealants Placed after Saliva-Contaminated Etched Enamel

چکیده
Saliva contamination of etched enamel before sealant application is the most common reason for failure fissure sealants, thus affecting effect caries prevention. This study aimed to evaluate shear bond strength (SBS) and microleakage resin-based on saliva-contaminated after rinsing, re-etching, applying universal adhesive. Fifty human third molars were sectioned into 2 parts embedded in acrylic resin obtained 100 samples. The samples randomly assigned 5 groups: 1, etching; 2, etching + contamination; 3, rinsing; 4, contamination+ re-etching; 5, Each group was divided subgroups: 24 h storage 5000× thermocycling. After measuring SBS, mode analyzed. In an additional 15 teeth, tested using dye penetration method. Three more teeth used scanning electron microscope (SEM) observation surface morphology each group. adhesive had significantly higher mean SBS storage, while re-etching better etching, etching+ groups showed least microleakage. SEM reveals considerable variations appearance within groups. Re-etching or can achieve satisfactory results. Considering less operative steps shorter chair time, recommended a pediatric patient if saliva-contamination happened application.

In vitro evaluation of shear bond strength and microleakage of different pit and fissure sealants
AIM AND OBJECTIVES Fissure caries is most common in children due to deep pit and fissures. Pit and fissure areas on the occlusal surface of the teeth make them susceptible to dental caries, which need to be prevented or restored. Fissures sealant reduces the risk of occlusal caries. The present study was done to evaluate microleakage and shear bond strength of various fissure sealants. MATERI...

AIM The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of saliva contamination and compare the microleakage of three different pit-and-fissure sealants namely, Helioseal F, Enamel Loc and Fuji VII. MATERIALS AND METHODS Sixty recently extracted sound third molars were randomly assigned to three groups for three different sealant materials (n=20). Each sealant group was then randomly divided into...

Arresting occlusal enamel caries lesions with pit and fissure sealants The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of pit and fissure sealants and the effectiveness of the two sealant methods applied in every-day practice in public dental health care in Finland. Two sealant methods were evaluated according to their effectiveness in preventing dentin caries at occlusal surfaces and sea...
